Little by little, her heart shakes itself apart, its pieces drift,
arctic ice forming floating islands—spring’s approach.
Love breaks out of its resting place in her chest, its singular
beat, falls through her limbs, out her fingertips and toes,
molecules of all she’s meant to feel, offerings to air, sky,
strangers on the street. More weightless now, the space inside her
rib cage, empty, full of nothing but light.
